Chef Michael is a native of Centre County and returns after a number of years as executive banquet chef for the Aspen Meadows Resort in Aspen, Colorado, and executive sous chef at the historic Wort Hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Chef Michael graduated from Le Cordon Blue culinary school, with a degree in food science and culinary arts. Chef Michael interned for Celebrity Chef Todd English at the bluezoo located in Walt Disney World’s Swan & Dolphin Resort.
During his years out west, Chef Michael developed a love of the Rockies and a passion for mountain-eclectic cuisine. In his down-time in Aspen, he assisted private chefs for Christy Brinkley, Kevin Costner, Mariah Carey and Will Smith as well as the CEO of The Gap on Aspen’s prestigious Starwood Drive. He also assisted in the production of Top Chef (season 3) and hosted the 2006 top ten best new chefs during the annual Aspen Food and Wine Classic.
Chef Michael expanded his culinary style creating exquisite local, farm to table dishes at the award winning Wort Hotel. A career highlight was competing against some of the largest names in the industry in the Iron-Chef style “Sixth Ultimate Chef Challenge” in Salt Lake City, Utah. Chef Michael and the Hotel Wort team won first-place and had the opportunity to cook a six-course meal on opening night of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
